The Public Schools Neurodiversity Collective provides graduate level professional development for teachers to create neurodiversity-affirming classrooms in public schools.

What does the Public Schools Neurodiversity Collective do?
➺ Our work focuses on delivering neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based, graduate level professional development to K-12 teachers in public school systems.
➺ We provide trauma-informed neurodiversity paradigm focused training and resources that directly contribute to the creation of emotionally, psychologically and physically safe and inclusive classrooms for autistic students.
➺ We advocate on a local and national level for trauma-informed changes to how public schools educate autistic, other-neurodivergent, and other disabled students.

Why does the Public Schools Neurodiversity Collective believe change is necessary?
➺ In most U.S. public schools, the educational framework for K—12 students is grounded in PBIS, a “positive behavioral interventions, strategies, and supports” behavior management system rooted in ABA that uses rewards (and punishments) to manipulate students’ behavior. The stated goal of PBIS is “preventing unwanted behaviors,” which includes harmless autistic behaviors.
➺ Autistic and other Neurodivergent students often spend entire school days and years in emotional, psychological, and physical trauma due to PBIS approaches. But we know there are more compassionate and joyful ways to educate these student populations, and we want teachers to know that, too.
No one person can single-handedly overhaul a national public education system, but together we can do big things!
